Graechen, an old Valais mountain village, situated 1617m above sea level, and on a sunny plateau. The town center is a car-free zone, with traditional style wooden chalets. This ski region is in a super position, and has been known to have up to 299 days of sun in the year (that is the Swiss record!). Visitors are amazed by the five enormous 4000-er mountains, one of which is the Matterhorn.
SPORTS
Graechen offers a snow-guaranteed, and sunny ski region. There are 14 lifts, and 45km slopes of fun! The new connecting lift between Hannigalp and Seetalhorn offers even more ski possiblities. A top Hit is the black buckel slope on Baergji. Starting and finishing point, is our hut! On the fast 1290m high downhill slope from Seetalhorn to the sun terrace on our hut, and with a distance of 9km. The more advanced skiers tackle the deep-snows on Gabelhorn and Wannihorn. The truly advanced skiers may journey up to 3246m to Platthorn. You will be rewarded with the super downhill journey on un-prepared slopes, and in steep Balfirn-Tal.
There is the 100m long Halfpipe and the Freaky Snowboard Park on the Hannigalp waiting in Graechen, awaiting your visit. The best tips are exchanged in the Boarder-Scene meeting point "Stafel-Bar". A must for party people is to go in to "Maskotte". Have fun!!!
LEISURE ACTIVITIES
Plenty of Apres Ski opportunities, and also a swimming pool, sauna, and a sport center with tennis, badminton, table tennis, and climbing wall. Further activities are to be found on the natural-ice, curling, and toboggan track. Of course, there are the Gluehwein parties, sleigh rides, moonshine and torch-lit trips, and not forgetting the bars and discos!!! Before we forget, Graechen is an insiders tip for volley-ballers!
